Siddipet - a town a few hours from Hyderabad - is famous for weaving the Gollabhama sarees. Gollabhama translates to “milkmaid” in Telugu. These slightly raised motifs of the gollabhamas or bathukammas – floral decorations typical to Telangana – or kolatam – women dancing in pairs are characteristic features of this heritage, GI tagged weave from the Deccan state of Telangana.
These sarees come in beautiful colour blocks making striking contrasts with the motifs. Traditionally, the motifs are woven into the Palla but its variations re now available with the motifs on the Border as well. They are classy, dignified and full of grace.
