The mundu-neriyathum is a beautiful two piece saree set typical to the Kerala region. It is a minimalistic cotton weave with a plain cream body and either a rich gold weave or a more relaxed coloured ribbed weave at the borders.
Amidst myriad patterns and bold coloured sarees, the traditional Mundu Neriyathum stands out for its elegance and visual restraint. The mundu is worn around the lower body and the neriyathu is worn over a blouse either tucked in the blouse in the traditional way or in the modern style, over the left shoulder.
These sarees make for inimitable traditional pieces and can be worn to temples, weddings and other ceremonies alike, typically with a contrast blouse. They make for great experimentation with printed, brocades or other contemporary blouses too!
